LANDSCAPE EXCELLENCE

Landscape Aesthetic Values

The landscaping at Park Place Residences has delivered a tropical backdrop to the buildings where the extremely lush greenery traverses up the carpark façade from the promenade and footpaths surrounding the buildings and up to the pool and recreation facilities on Level 5 providing and a series of new and comfortable spaces for the residents. The design of the landscaped recreation deck located on Level 5 of the development was conceptualised around the idea of providing a community area. This connected sequence of lushly planted spaces starts at the heart of the Public Realm and extends to each end of the tropical landscape deck where the swimming pool, spa Yoga Deck, Kid’s Play Area and BBQ area are situated.

Park Place Residences is within the Paya Lebar Quarter mixed use development, which encompasses 100,000sqft of lush green spaces and a cycling path through the precinct linking to a wider Park Connector Network (PCN). The heart of the development, PLQ Plaza has also witnessed multiple events and activities since PLQ’s grand opening in October 2019, a focal point inconnecting communities.

Rainwater in Paya Lebar Quarter is collected off the buildings and filtered through the ABC (Activated Beautiful, Clean) water system in the Plaza and Promenade areas before entering the canal under the Promenade.

Park Place Residences at PLQ is a tropical oasis in suburbia.

Social & Cultural Values

Inspired by the intricate weaving patterns of the Songket, a traditional Malay brocade textile, the design language and colour palette of the façade, interior and landscape design seeks to unify the buildings and public areas, and seamlessly weave the four plots of PLQ into a single tapestry. The blend of bronze metal elements and grey wall surfaces of the residential component is meant to emulate the gold and silver hues of the Songket while also giving the towers a rich and exquisite look. Bronze elements are also seen in PLQ’s retail and office towers facade strengthening the sense of belonging.

The development also integrates PUB’s Active Beautiful and Clean (ABC) water storey design in the form of terraced rain gardens, directing cleaner water into the Geylang Canal. The Outdoor Children’s Playground is inspired by a prominent Banyan tree that formerly grew at the site. It uses elevated walkways to enable people to interact with different parts of the trees and their canopies. Saplings from that Banyan tree are now replanted around Singapore with the assistance of NParks A couple of which are also located at the entrance of PLQ 3.

Liveability & Wellness

Paya Lebar Quarter is now complete and comprises Park Place Residences which has 429 units , PLQ 1, 2 & 3 commercial offices with approximately 10,000 office executives when fully occupied and PLQ Mall which attracts millions of shoppers per year making PLQ a vibrant place to live, work and play in harmony.

Lendlease opted to cover the canal in order to provide an additional 100,000 sqft of green, activated public spaces allow for interaction, and community engagement. Lendlease is a strong supporter of Health & Well-being and Paya Lebar Quarter is designed with this ethos in mind.

DESIGN EXCELLENCE

Exterior Aesthetics

Paya Lebar Quarter is located within the culture-rich neighbourhood of Paya Lebar. Inspired by this connected culture and the intricate weaving patterns of the Songket, a traditional Malay brocade textile, we celebrate the idea of 'living fabric' - bringing to life the green, connected spaces and historic and cultural nuances of the precinct and surrounding sites. Vertical fin walls and horizontal ledges on the residential façade form a recurring Songket pattern to give the towers a coherent appearance despite the multiple façade elements of balconies, AC ledges, corridors and window walls. Enhanced with the blend of bronze metal elements and grey wall surfaces, the towers emulate the gold and silver hues of the Songket while also giving the towers a rich and exquisite look.

Interior Aesthetics & Finishes

The 1-, 2- and 3-Bedroom apartment unit layout in Park Place Residences are regularised and efficient. Apartment interior finishes were also delicately selected providing purchasers with 2 options of interior colour schemes – Dark warm and Light warm. An urbanist can opt for a light palette natural marble for living / dining area accentuated with the dark engineered timber flooring in the bedrooms and high quality imported Italian brand kitchen system complete with black quartz countertop and dark brown bottom cabinets. The natural marble flooring also complements well with light timber flooring in bedrooms and the kitchen set comprising white and light brown kitchen cabinets finished with light grey quartz countertop, an option for the sophisticated families. Prefabricated bathrooms are brightened with the use of light, natural colour wall and floor tiles contrast with dark coloured vanity top and cabinet.

Concept

Technology: The Park Place Residences mobile App, developed by local company Habitap, not only allows residents to access their unit but it also enables residents to book facilities within the development, manage the RSVP of their visitors and gain access to exclusive promotions offered by retailers at PLQ. Security personnel on site are able to more efficiently check for authorised / unauthorised visitors by scanning a QR code.

Safety and Wellness: Every apartment comes with a Haiku ceiling fan in the living area for better ventilation in the apartment and in effort to achieve Green Mark Platinum. Park Place Residences is one of the first residential strata project that provides a ceiling fan and has set a trend in the market. All balcony lighting points in the apartment are strategically placed on the wall instead of ceiling to mitigate risk of falling during light installation / maintenance.

Integrated Development: The concept of integrated development is strongly exhibited even though the components are sitting on individual plots of land. The public realm and the overall PLQ precinct design strategy connects the residential towers, office buildings and the retail mall together and an ecosystem is developed. The concept of owning 1 unit and enjoying 1 precinct sits well with the residential buyers.

Maintainability

The design of a Park Place Residences embraces considerations with regards to ease of maintenance of the overall building and additional benefits to residents. From design to the choice of materials, the users’ perspective is adopted:

Overall Building

  • Use of ductless car parks

  • Pneumatic Waste Collection System Residential Units

  • High Performance Building Envelope Façade with RETV performance as low as 14.31W/m2

  • Quality and Sustainable Materials Use

  • Fan Assisted Ventilation
